Wanted something to back up my files before I send in my Macbook-- 250GB is enough for my pictures, media files, documents. I know you can buy other hard-drives, usually formatted for Windows, and re-format them for Macs, but I wanted it to be easy. This Seagate drive is useable right out of the box-- comes with a USB connection and you just connect it. It's pretty streamlined, feels pretty sturdy in the hand, didn't run hot or whirl loudly when I used it today (about 5 hours). Took about an hour to transfer 80GB.
I didn't rate its reliability-- crosses fingers!!!-- because I've only had it for a day, but my Mac's hard drive, which I replaced, is also a Seagate and it's lasted me 3 years so far.

Small, sleek, silent, speedy... and ready to go out of the box! Transferred 32 Gb from a 1.66 Ghz Mac Mini to this drive in less than an hour. It's barely warm to the touch. When ejected, this drive does not make the strange whirring sounds of our WD Passports. Excellent power management designed to work with the Mac.
Beautifully designed with well-made USB cables. Nice to have the dual-USB connect cable included, but the single USB connection works fine on my Mac.
Form meets function in this drive. Lovely pattern of lights on when connected, off when ejected, so users don't inadvertently disconnect the drive when it's running (which is possible to do with our WD Passports). Those who do not like the lights might want to put the drive behind the Mac or elsewhere out of sight.
This is a great little drive, 5-year warranty included. Thanks for carrying it, Amazon!

I bought the external hard drive for my sister (a Mac user) as a gift. I spent quite some time researching, reading through reviews and then chose this one. And... I was very happy when I saw and held it in my hands. My sister even more so. Style in some ways matters more to her than the technical aspects... But also the handling, the upload speed and the ease of use are great. We love it :)! Would definitely recommend it to others!

I wanted a small back up hard drive to sit next to my iMac and not add to the clutter. It sits on the stand under the monitor and virtually disappears. It is so small I can grab it and take it on trips easily. It is quiet and well made. I could not be happier. I use it with Silver keeper backup software and schedule it to back up at 11pm every night. A great product!
Worked within 30 seconds of plugging it in. Made for Mac time machine. Love it!

Never had anything as easy to install as this. I did nothing, and it just found my Mac or my Mac found it, and it started to back everything up all by itself. It does so every hour, automatically. And it has the best warranty I found; five years.
